Research at Smart Biomaterials lab (SBL) is focused on bio-inspired, improved and 3rd generation of biomaterials. Also, preparation and characterization of Nano/Micro biomaterials in the form of implant, tissue engineering scaffold or drug/ biological/ oxygen delivery platform for Cardiovascular, Tendon, Cartilage and Skin application are our main interest.
Projects and activities:
* Surface modification and investigation of the interaction between modified biomaterials of metal (magnesium and titanium) and polymer with the biological environment (blood and cell)
* Synthesis and evaluation of polymeric nanoparticles / microparticles as drug/ biological agents/ oxygen delivery platform
* Preparation and evaluation of smart composite biomaterials composed of polyurethane, polylactic acid, cellulose acetate, halloysite, graphene, graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes by electrospinning method.
* Development of alginate, dendrimers and silk fibroin-based materials as biomaterials
* Preparation and evaluation of self-healing and injectable hydrogel/cryogel biomaterials
