Introduction:

Equipment:
  • Universal Hardness Tester (KOOPA model: UV1):
The hardness tester supports 15 superfocial Rockwell methods (ASTM E18), 8 Vickers’ methods (ASTM E92), and all Brinell methods (ASTM E10). It is beneficial in auto hardness testing and showing depth of penetration on a graphical display. It is able to convert hardness units. As all the perfections are available in this tester, it is the first choice of many industries, research centers and universities.
  • Uniaxial Tension Test Device:
It is a uniaxial tester machine designed for a soft tissue mechanical test. It could be used for materials with fracture force less than 10N. A step motor with 22 Kc.cm provides the required force for tension and a digital microscope (30 frames/sec) is used to measure displacement. Finally, using an application written by MATLAB Image Analysis Toolbox data are extracted. This device is capable of performing puncture test as well.
  • Santam Universal Testing Machine (STM-Series):
STM series Materials Testing Machine is designed to easily test materials. Advanced technology and high quality engineering enables the operator to test the materials quickly with full reliability. Wide range of crosshead speeds permit the operator to test material in accordance with the international standards of ASTM, DIN and ISO. All test procedures such as Specimen input parameter, Test method, test report, control of load frame movement and indication of measurement instruments are carried out by software.
  • Zwick/Roell Dynamic Testing Machine (DTM):
The dynamic testing machine is available with load of ±25kN, as well as a piston stroke of 60 mm. Testing frequencies, which equal up to 100 Hz, depending on the test, ensure short test times yielding high specimen throughput. Some of the standards used are: ASTM F543, ASTM F1717, ASTM F1715, ASTM D6048 and ISO 14801
Other custom-designed equipment that is fabricated and made for testing include:
  • Beam deflection
  • Castigliano’s theorem
  • Out-of-plane bending
  • Drop Tower for High Impact testing
  • High speed tensile testing setup
