(Department) Biomedical Engineering (Division) Biomaterials and Tissue
(Level and Major) Graduate
Course TitleBiomaterials (II)
Number of Credits 3Prerequisite Biomaterials (I)
The course aims to: Expression of additional and professional topics of biomaterials with considering their applications in different human body tissues. Generally, challenges and latest achievements of biomaterial science and various implants are investigated and discussed in this course.
Course Topics:
A review on important properties of biomaterials such as electrical properties, optical properties, and magnetic properties.
The biomaterials which have been applied in cardiovascular applications like heart valves, vascular grafts, stents, artificial heart and expression of the challenges of biomaterials-blood interaction
The biomaterials which have been applied in ocular applications like interocular lenses, contact lenses, comparison of soft and hard lenses, artificial cornea, glaucoma, and the biomaterials which can treat them, biomaterials in restoration of damaged retina and vitreous
Artificial cells
The biomaterials which have been applied in orthopedic and dental applications like joints, artificial vertebra, dental implants and approaches for promoting osseointegration
The biomaterials which have been applied as bioadhesives
The biomaterials which have been applied as cochlear implants
